About the speaker

Paul Achleitner chaired the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank from 2012 to 2022, a decade that included the bank's most far-reaching restructuring in recent memory. Before that he served as CFO of Allianz from 2000 to 2012, steering the insurer through the financial and euro crises.

He joined Goldman Sachs in 1988, became partner in 1994 and built the firm's German business. His career began in research at the University of St. Gallen and Harvard Business School, followed by several years as a consultant at Bain & Company in Boston.

Achleitner studied at the University of St. Gallen, where he also earned his doctorate, and has served as President of the Board of Trustees of the HSG Foundation since 2016. In 2025 he published "Accelerate Your Experience", nominated for the Deutscher Wirtschaftsbuchpreis. Together with his wife, Professor Ann-Kristin Achleitner, he is an active start-up investor.

About the event

The evening is built around a moderated on-stage conversation between Dr. Paul Achleitner and two editors of the St. Gallen Business Review, followed by an open question round with the audience. The format runs for roughly 45 to 60 minutes and leaves deliberate room for questions that rarely fit into a shorter appearance.

The event is hosted jointly by ESPRIT St. Gallen and the St. Gallen Business Review. It will be held in German.

This is a curated format with a limited number of seats.
